Giants Continue Mastery of Braves, 4-2

12 May 14

Tim Lincecum twirled a gem nearly completing 8 innings, and Tyler Colvin drove in 3 runs with a homer and a triple to power the Giants past the Braves in San Francisco’s first home game since ending a successful road trip Sunday.

Lincecum struck out 11 and allowed 2 hits, one a homer, in his performance that contributes to bringing his ERA back down to earth. It rests at 4.78. Colvin came up from Fresno on Sunday when he went 0-1 with a walk in two appearances at home plate. Tonight, in his first appearance, he took Gavin Floyd to McCovey Cove with a second-inning splash hit that put the Giants into the lead, 1-0. Colvin delivered in the seventh when he pulled an 0-2 pitch into the right field corner for a two-run triple to put the Giants ahead permanently.

The Giants moved to 11 games above .500, Level 2 plus 1. The Dodgers kept pace, defeating the Marlins 6-5, and trailing the Giants by 4.5 games.
