The Giants tasted payback today at the hands of Hyun-Jin Ryu, the Dodgers’ lefty pushed into stopper status while their lefty ace, Clayton Kershaw, lives on the disabled list. The payback was a loss to the Dodgers keeping the Giants from sweeping the series for Ryu’s ugly loss at the season opener at Dodger Stadium two weeks ago today.

That day the Giants won, 8-4. Today they lost, 2-1. Ryu held the Giants to 4 hits in seven innings and didn’t allow a runner to reach scoring position after the first inning. Madison “Grand Slam” Bumgarner pitched 4.1 innings allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 6 while donating 3 walks. His ERA rose to 3.48.

The Giants scored their lone run in the bottom of the ninth when Ehire Adrianza, who enjoyed a 3-hit day, singled to left and Brandon Belt scored from second.

The Giants leave San Francisco tied with the Dodgers for first place with a 10-6 record. They go to San Diego for three weekend games.
